“We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.” – Joseph Campbell
Another year has swiftly gone by and a new year faces us with all kinds of opportunities and possibilities. What we do with this knowledge is yet to be seen.
How many of us spend the last few days of the old year reviewing what we did or didn’t do? What ‘resolutions’ or promises do we make to ourselves that THIS year will be better? “I WILL be better, thinner, healthier, be happier, have more money, etc.” Has it ever really worked out?
Sure your weight may have gone up or down. You may have made better, healthier choices. You may have started a new job or earned more money. But were you happier?
I gave up making resolutions years ago. To be honest, I never kept them. No excuses, I just didn’t. I realized that setting an intention made more sense to me and occasionally maybe setting a goal or two. I look at what is important to me at this time and space. No matter what I say I am going to do, the only thing that matters to me is being happy. Not the kind of happy that comes from things, but from the inside out. That is much more difficult to achieve for it means letting go.
Letting go of what I think or plan, and being open to what is waiting for me.
Now that is a true adventure. To live each day believing, trusting, having faith, being grateful and open to joy.
Life is like looking outside of your window. You can see the big picture by taking everything in or you can focus in on one or two things. You can let what you see affect you or you can affect what you see by the way you feel. You can change what you see by simply changing the way you think or the way you feel. OR you can look beyond what you are actually seeing and create something new.
Our internal and external world is made of unlimited possibilities and it is only waiting for your imagination to bring it to life.
Now that is what I would call magic.
What will you let go of in order to have the life that is waiting for you?
